The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) is putting together a conference on unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), the current and future state of such systems, implications for future army structure and the recruitment of military personnel and the ethical and legal implications of their use and autonomy, which will take place on 18th February.
The conference will attract delegates comprising military personnel, academics, lawyers, politicians and industry leaders. It will begin with our keynote presentation from Professor Phil Sutton, MOD Director Science & Technology Strategy, discussing the UK attitude towards and future strategy for use of UGVs. This will be followed by a look at current capabilities and trends and end with a look into the ethics and legal implications/considerations and what the future may hold for UGVs in both military and civilian roles.
The aim of the conference is to come away with some definitive thoughts on the topic and to produce a short publication based on the discussions, which will be distributed. For further information and to sign up visit: www.RUSI.org/GroundRobotics10
